A colorful indulgence?
Magnolia Bakery, a place I chose to observe and make an impression grid using colors and words.
02
The different tints and shades of the yellow merge to fill the bucket with a heap of warm caramel-colored pudding. This yellow dessert is a necessary pause against the sky blue reflections that rapidly change its pace in the city. As I walked into the bakery, the sun cast a pale shadow on the mint green themed walls. Bright colors of icing sugar popped out of the trays hosting delicious cupcakes. Red and blue shavings added a pink tint to these treats. The dark brown chocolate cake on the stand created a lovely contrast with the pale pastel hues of the walls. These brown pieces of cake produced a grey nostalgia of home, my mother’s white and yellow vanilla cake. Diverse people from everywhere were absorbed into the blackboard that said ‘Banana pudding’. Bakeries evoke joy just as the luscious green parks and create a distinct memory in my New York Experience.

The Rorschach test
The color grid is taken as a module and digitally manipulated using various tools and layers on photoshop. These manipulations are a play of colors and bring them to life. Colors are analyzed using psychological interpretation.

Pareidolia
Pareidolia (/pɛraɪˈdoʊliə/, /pɛriː-/) is the tendency for the incorrect perception of a stimulus as an object, pattern or meaning known to the observer, such as seeing shapes in clouds, seeing faces in inanimate objects or abstract patterns, or hearing hidden messages in music

Selected modules are used to make four pattern variations. These modules are repeated, mirrored, and arranged in various scales to form these patterns.

The chosen pattern is very fluid, with an oil paint texture. The pattern exhibits vibrant colors. A suitable satin-like textile called charmeuse that further enhances the colors,
is used to print the pattern.
This pattern is used to design a laptop sleeve. The sleeves in the market are available in boring colors. The Rorschach series is an attempt to change the interaction between laptops and users.

Since this pattern exhibits vibrant colors, using this pattern on a lampshade can bring about an interesting play between light and colors.

The chosen pattern is a pixelated illusion. The color composition forms different patterns every time you look at it. This busy pattern comes to life on a translucent textile called Crepe Georgette. The textile allows light to pass through to create an illusion of lightness on the pattern.
Similar patterns and materials are used in the design of the Indian couture, a saree. It is a nine-yard fabric that is draped to celebrate a woman's body.
